After looking at Andrew Goodwin's theory, we went on to create a narrative for the music videos created in our lip sync task. We were given the theme of someone stalking someone else, and had to try and get it to fit the music. Whilst we were able to portray the theme successfully without the music, when the music was added on the top, it changed the meaning of the video, as the lyrics and video did not match. From this, I have realised that I will have to spend some time considering the narrative for the song I choose for my final video. If I can pick something with a clear narrative, then it wil be easier to create a fluid video, that accurately represents the theme of the video.
After creating the initial narrative, we went on to combine it with the lip syc task.
Audience Feedback
David - "There was a clear narrative that fit the music well overall. It was however, slightly confusing, there wasn' one clear protagonist to identiy with."
Jamie - "There was a clear narrative, and the effects were used well to signify the flashbacks. The music felt appropriate to the narrative and helped the relevance of the performance and story."
Evaluation
The narrative worked quite well with the music. The audience found it clear what the theme of the video was, and believed that the song complimented it well. The multiple singers was the one conusing thing, as it meat the audience didn't know who they were relating with. This made the actual narrative a bit unclear, however it was still possible to recognise who the characers were and wat their roles were. I feel that my video supports Andrew Goodwin's theory, as it has a significantly different feel with and without the music. When comparin it with other groups outcomes, it further supports the theory, as each video as a diferen inerpretation, all to the same song.
