From the timelines that I have created I can see that the key similarities between music videos are the strong mix between performance and narrative, a variety of shot types, with greater emphasis on the close up and mid shots, and frequent long/group shots featuring the band.
All of the videos feature very dark lighting, especially during the performance sections of the video, but light clothing and instruments are used.
The narrative shots tend to last longer between cuts than the performance shots, but are often in slow motion and with different lighting.
